Yesterday, I saw something that moved me. I ran to Target to pick up a couple of things in Bismarck, ND, my home town.
As I was walking out of Target, I saw an older gentleman and something just didn't seem right. Ever get the sense that something is wrong? You know the feeling. What was strange is that physically everything looked fine. I just had a feeling that something wasn't right. The sense I had was that he was lost.
As I walked to my car, he walked in the same direction - about 50 yards ahead of me. Upon reaching my car, I noticed that he had headed back toward the store, but now in a different row of cars. That seemed to confirm it for me. He must not know where his car is parked.
I started my car and told myself that if he looked like he needed my help when I drove by him, I would stop and offer my assistance.
I backed out and drove to the end of the row of cars and turned into the row I thought he was in. I didn't see him. I drove to the end of that row and turned to the next to see if he was there. He was.
What I saw moved me. I saw a young man wearing a Target red shirt helping him, guiding him. I saw two souls helping one another. While the young man was helping the older gentleman, the older gentleman was helping the young man.
Who benefits from Daymaking? The giver does as well as the receiver.
Imagine if for every soul needing a kind word, an open door, a warm greeting, a moment of inspiration, had two more more souls to help them. Imagine.
I encourage you to practice purposeful acts of Daymaking. The life you change will be your own.
