Every week I like to feature a resource that I feel will help you Maximize Possibility in your organization and your life at work. This week I would like to feature a powerful book on a very important topic: Mindset Power.
The Resource: The book 212: The Extra Degree, by Mac Anderson
What it is About: Mac Anderson's book is based around the powerful observation that water at 211 degrees i nothing more than hot water. However add one degree of heat and the water now boils. Just one little degree makes all the difference.
"Big deal" you might be thinking... Consider this: boiling water creates steam and steam can power a 100 ton locomotive. Try doing that with water that is just hot! 212 The Extra Degree explores how the smallest changes or improvements can bring about remarkable results in almost all areas of our lives
Why You Should Check it Out: This book is a great example of the powerful influence our MIndset has on our lives. Often we are close to a breakthrough but fail to recognize how close to the boiling point we really are. Mac's stories do an excellent job of reminding us that small efforts can lead to big changes in results.
For a book you can read in less than a half an hour, 212: The Extra Degree couldn't be more powerful or inspirational. Often when I find myself stuck on a project or looking for motivation I will pick up this book to get the extra boost of energy and inspiration I need to bring out my very best and accomplish the task at hand.
This book is a quick and easy read that I am confident you will find yourself going back to time and time again. The concepts espoused in the book are clear, concise, universal, and leave one filled with a "can-do" attitude that is truly uplifting.
If you (or your team members) are in need of a "pick-me-up" that will actually lead to positive change in behavior and performance, I can't recommend this book highly enough.
